Delicias to Marbella

This is a relatively undeveloped area south of the Hacienda Pinilla resort community. Delicias is located inland, though its elevation allows it some distant ocean views, and even the occasional peak at the Rincón de la Vieja volcano to the east. The land here is mostly farmland and forest, with the occasional small home.

Out to the coast are the small surfing and fishing villages of Playa Negra, Junquillal, Lagarto, Manzanillo and Marbella. About 40 minutes away from Tamarindo, this area appears ripe for development. Plenty of investors have bought land already but construction has only started on a few large community resorts, including La Joya de Lagarto and Seabreeze. Land is cheaper here but the area offers almost no services.

Developers in the area are helping finance the paving of the main road from Abril 21 to Lagarto, make travel to their projects much easier. At the moment, the lack of services, transportation infrastructure, and finished developments mean the area is more attractive to investors at this time than vacationers or future residents. That could change quickly.

At the time of writing, development was still controlled and developers, such as those from Seabreeze, were making efforts to support the local community through employment and donations.
